Challenge

Universal Studios Home Entertainment was looking for a unique way to promote the Season 2 DVD launch of the hit TV series “Heroes”. Their aim was to create a campaign based on user participation within an immersive branded entertainment experience that would increase DVD sales as a result of the user involvement and interaction.

Results

Kaltura partnered with MetaCafe, and created a fully branded and customized microsite where Heroes fans could remix preloaded videos, photos and audio from the show's second season. Users created new "Heroes moments" or remixed existing moments, complete with transitions and soundtrack. With hundreds of new mashups created within the span a few days, the "Heroes" campaign managed to reel in the audience, keep them interested and help position Universal Studios as a company on the cutting-edge.
